About the Department of Fine Arts

The Department of Fine Arts provides an academic and creative hub for students interested in the visual arts—such as painting, drawing, and ceramics—as well as those drawn to fields like art history and music. Founded on the belief that a strong humanities education should nurture both intellectual and aesthetic development, the department encourages students to explore the intersection of theory and artistic practice.

Our aim is to help students cultivate practical skills alongside critical thinking, enabling them to engage with diverse forms of artistic expression. These range from the plastic arts to drama, cinema, music, and photography.

While the department does not offer a standalone degree program, it regularly delivers a range of courses in collaboration with other academic departments.

Course Structure

The Department of Fine Arts offers two main types of courses:

Studio-Based Courses

These practice-oriented courses focus exclusively on hands-on artistic creation and are available at introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels. Designed to enhance students' expressive abilities, studio courses count toward graduation requirements and are graded on a Pass/Fail basis.

Theoretical and Applied Courses

Blending conceptual study with creative application, these courses combine lectures with practical work conducted in studio settings or in the field—particularly in connection with local topics in art and architectural history. These courses carry full academic credit and are assessed with letter grades.
